Into the void.
THE ULTIMATE ERIK LARSEN FAN PAGE

The all new, all different, yet very much the same Erik Larsen fan page is back and better than ever!  Well... of course that's a lie.  You all know me pretty much by now and know that, right?  Well, I'm going to try, really hoestly I am *crosses fingers*, to keep this place more up to date from now on.  So... let's all just pray.... except for all you atheists.... like Erik.  Then you guys can just go sit in a corner or work on comic books or something.

As for you new guys, welcome aboard!  This site is a companion piece to the Brotherhood of the Fin and sargedargon.com, providing much, much more about the man, the legend, the behemoth, Erik Larsen.  While other sites just focus on his creation Savage Dragon or other little things, this site provides info on EVERYTHING that Erik's done.  Or at least pretty much close to everything.  Erik's credits go from the small and independent like Venture or DNAgents to big title books like Spider-Man and even Superman.  So welcome, and enjoy the plethora of useless information that this website will be sure to fill you up on!

New news is directly below, older news is even lower, and the navigation bar to the rest of the site is to the right, so when you're done reading about Erik's new ideas for Savage Dragon or his new projects for the Big Two, you can check out the comics section for some of that old school Larsen covers, or the interviews section for more interviews than you can shake a stick at.  Go to it.

NEW LARSEN NEWS FOR  FRIDAY, APRIL 26th, 2002

SAVAGE DRAGON #96 OUT THIS WEEK

Creator Controlled.

Savage Dragon #96 came out this week (on 4.24.02 to be exact) and features THREE stories in one book, two revolving around Dragon, with the third showcasing that cosmic duo, Vanguard and Wally.  Also look for the cameo of Medieval Sandman within these pages!  Neil Gaiman must be pleased I'm sure.  The solicitation is as follows....

The CREATOR has unleashed an army of super-powered on the Savage World! Using his powers to radically alter living beings he's helped change the inhabitants of the planet in strange and horrific ways! Nobody has dared face him -nobody that is - until the Dragon! But not only does the Creator wield unimaginable power but he commands a legion of super-powered freaks! This won't be easy! Savage Dragon comes with our Highest Possible Recommendation!

Savage Dragon #96 is $2.95 and published by Image Comics.

WONDERCON 2002!

courtesy of cbr

Been to Wondercon this year?  Me neither, but plenty of folks have, and one of them were them zany folks at Comic Book Resources!  Check out their pics from their, one of which is of Erik Larsen and Eric Stephenson.  Score one for the two "we spell our name differently" guys!  Check out the pics here.

Thanks to Jonah Weiland of CBR.

SAVAGE SOURCEBOOK

You're reading that right, folks!  Remember those crappy Sourcebooks that came out in the 90s with WildC.A.T.S. and Youngblood?  Well, Erik is thinking about putting out one that will actually be of some SUBSTANCE (unlike Rob's Youngblood Sourcebook which "featured" gizmos never seen again.... really.  What the hell was up with Chapel's motorcycle?  Sheesh.)  Anyways, says Erik...

Guys- (and gals, I don't want to single you out)

There has long been talk about doing some kind of sourcebook for Savage Dragon and while I think
it's a swell idea--finding the time to actually DO the work has always held me back from actually putting
one together. Now that #100 is approaching it seems like, perhaps, one should be thrown together.

And that's where YOU come in.

I'll need to figure out exactly what the contents should be and then get it committed to paper (or
computer). An issue by issue plot summary seems obvious along with all of the covers but what else?
Is a Who's Who type listing necessary? Would I need an entry for everybody? In some cases there are
characters who exist only in a panel or two--should they get a mention? If there are entries, somebody
would need to write or update them. Somebody would need to draw them.

Now, this is the kind of project that would, in all likelihood, lose a ton of money--so know going into this
that ALL you'd be getting is credit and a signed copy or two. I'm not wanting it to be a completely
fannish-looking effort so I'd assume that I'd need to do inking on at least a few of them. I imagine the
Marvel Universe-style art I've done in past issues would probably do just fine as illustrations for some
     of these guys.

I dunno. I'm rambling. Is there anything I'm missing here? Is there anything you'd like to see?

The BIG problem will be keeping the page count under control. A volume could easily spill into the
hundreds of pages if left unchecked. Might this work as a bonus section of a particularly fat issue? I
dunno. I'm a bit concerned about it selling like hell and losing my shirt.

In any case--what are YOUR thoughts?

     -Erik

If you feel you have an idea worth contributing (face it, you don't, but don't worry, neither do I), head over to the Savage Forum to learn more!

SUPERPATRIOT: AMERICA'S FIGHTING PREVIEW

Bang, yo.

ImageComics.com scored a FIVE page color preview of Corey and Rob's new Superpatriot comic!  It's looking pretty sweet, and.... yeah.  I just wish I knew when this book was scheduled to come out.

Thanks to Robert Kirkman himself for the news.

UPDATES FOR...
APRIL 26th, 2002

Okay, I remembered some of the stuff that I updated from last time.  There's new interviews in the interviews section of the site.  They're mostly from the Brotherhood Of The Fin site (I think...), and no, I STILL haven't finished the Comics Journal Interview (curse you, Erik, for giving such a long interview!!!).  Chances are, that thing won't be finished until next year.  I'm in the midst of finally getting out of school (yay!), but that means more time trying to pass my classes (boo!), and less time working on this site (double boo!).  Anyways... yeah.  Don't be on the look out for any major updates until after this whole school garbage.  Hopefully, by then, I'll get my act together and actually pitch the money for an actual domain name instead of using Tripod.  If wishes were nickels... I'd probably only have a nickel then, but hey, it's better than just having a penny, right?

Oh, and don't forget, if you're bored out of your mind,
you can check out all the old updates here.
