NEW LARSEN NEWS FOR APRIL 11th, 2001

DESPERATE TIMES #3

Chris Eliopoulos' Desperate Times #3 is out this week, and boy.... is it.... odd.  The whole thing is done sideways, which.... is kinda weird, but hey, it's Desperate Times!  And Marty is watching Fight Club in one of the skits!  Yay!  Go buy yours today!

Desperate Times #3 is published by Aaaargh! Comics, and is $2.95

OUTCAST STUDIOS

Ever hear of these guys?  Me neither, but hey, this month, their site is featuring a showcasing of fan art of the Dragon and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!  Check it out by clicking here

Thanks to Richard Woodall himself for the info.

SAVAGE DRAGON GUEST-APPEARANCE

Hey hey!  Dragon showed up in this month's Battle Pope!  He's in the background, working as a ... get this... a HOT DOG VENDOR!  Weird.  Anyways, this is just a little cameo appearance and doesn't fall into any kind of continuity or anything, it's just for laughs.  But get it anyways!

AVAILABLE

Special thanks to Jason Green for the info.

THE JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR #31

Page 47 of the new Jack Kirby Collector talks about Erik's run on Thor and compares with ole Jack's Thor #158 (of the first series).  To find out what exactly is said, you're just going to have to go out and buy it, now aren't ya!  Be warned, however, this thing is HUGE.  It's like a giant coloring book.  But that's the price to pay I guess, so you can see Erik's art side by side with Jack Kirby's.

The Jack Kirby Collector is published by TwoMorrows Publishing and costs $9.95

Thanks to Jesus Garcia for the info.

THE COMICS JOURNAL

WEBSITE UPDATE

Geez, y'think with all the crap that Erik's doing, we'd report about HIM, not other sites, but... whatever.  So here's Gin!

Comic's Journal completely revamped its online presence, putting several dozen articles, interviews, etc.

One of those is "Marvel's Broken Promise" by Eric Evans. There is a mention of Dragon in there:

'Image exists in large part as a thumb to the nose of Marvel -- "Don't want to treat us good? So there!" -- and at least one of those books, Erik Larsen's Savage Dragon, out-Marvels anything Marvel is putting out now. That book more than any other conveys the spirit of fun, the sense of action and the momentum of issue-to-issue plot that made the best of '70s Marvel click.'

THE COMICS JOURNAL INTERVIEW

Thanks to Gin for the link, the words, and... all that jazz....
